Handover and Beyond

Living Guide / Handover and Beyond

From Key Handover to Renewed Living

Handover is not only the stage when construction is completed; it is also when renewed living begins. A controlled handover of the independent units, shared areas and technical systems brings the process to a sound conclusion.

Pre-handover inspection

Before handover, apartments and shared areas should be inspected against the project, technical specifications and contract scope. Any incomplete work or items requiring correction should be documented.

Handover documents

Operating and maintenance information, warranty certificates, equipment documents and required project records should be provided to property owners in an organised file.

Completing outstanding work

Responsibility and a completion schedule should be clearly stated for items identified during handover. Once corrections are complete, they should be reinspected before the record is closed.

Warranty and communication

Property owners should be told what support is available after handover, for how long and through which communication channel. Recording requests and tracking their outcomes creates a dependable post-handover experience.
